Capt. Chris Najomo has been confirmed by the National Assembly as substantive DG, NCAA. It can be recalled that Capt. Chris Najomo was appointed acting DG in December 2023 and has since then implemented several initiatives to enhance the CAA.
Before his appointment as the Acting DG, Najomo has served in various capacities in Nigeria’s aviation sector. A distinguished aviation professional with over four decades of experience in leadership, piloting, and regulatory expertise in the industry, he served as the Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of the NCAA. He previously served as the Director, Air Transport Regulation from 2022-2023.
Capt. Najomo’s term as the Acting DG saw the birth of many initiatives. A major one was the Project 2024 which aimed at ensuring ease in doing business with the NCAA. The Project 2024 was divided into (9) different parts namely: Intensified Consumer Protection; ICT Digital Transformation and Change Management, Staff Welfare, Training and Reorientation and ICAO Audits. Other aspects of the project are Simplified Certification and Licensing Processes, attainment of ISO 9001 Certification, Intensified Revenue drive, and Enhanced Surveillance.
Notably, during his tenure as the Acting DG, Capt. Najomo approved the creation of a dedicated UAS Integration Unit in the NCAA and the rebranding of the Consumer Protection department. The rebranding saw the birth of a portal and QR Code for ease of complaint resolution by passengers.
Capt. Najomo’s confirmation is a significant achievement not only to him but to the entire Nigerian aviation industry.
