Lagos Reiterates Commitment To Safety In Hospitality – By Roland Ohaeri

The Lagos State government has disclosed that it will unveil the Lagos Tourism Master Plan, which is in alignment with the vision of the State to develop its tourism and economy.

Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, Lagos State Governor, who was represented by Mr Steve Ayorinde, Commissioner for Tourism, Arts & Culture, Lagos State, made this disclosure at the recently held 14th Akwaaba African Travel Market in Lagos.

The governor says the Lagos Tourism Master Plan will present a year-round calendar of tourism and festivals in the State as well as showcase the culture, heritage, religion, arts and entertainment of the Centre of Excellence to the world. He adds that the Lagos Tourism Master Plan will cover a time frame of 15-20 years stressing that it will further position Lagos as the first choice of tourism destination in Africa.

He says: “As a government, we are conscious of the provisions of structures and entire security in the State for tourism development,” adding that the State government assures the safety and security of tourists in the State.

Mr. Adeyemi Folarin, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Lagos State, says the State government within the last three years has continued to invest concerted efforts in raising the bar of tourism in the State and repositioning the State’s tourism sector.
